Professional Bio:
Andrea Procopio is a strategic program leader with nearly 20 years of experience designing and delivering high-impact initiatives across global health, education, and resilience sectors. She specializes in leading cross-functional teams, advancing adaptive learning systems, and translating complex strategies into actionable, measurable outcomes. Her work spans government agencies, international NGOs, and grassroots organizations, with a strong emphasis on equity, inclusion, and systems-level change.
At USAID, Andrea directed the strategic design of $650 million in resilience programming in fragile settings, coordinating efforts across multiple stakeholders to ensure integrated and responsive approaches. In Afghanistan, led the monitoring of USAID programs in Western Afghanistan totaling $517M, including vocational programs for 10,000 women, literacy programs for 65,000 women, and health system strengthening and basic health care delivery for 1M people monthly. In Sub-Saharan Africa, she helped forge public-private partnerships to strengthen laboratory systems and improve disease surveillance capacity.
A strong advocate for adaptive management and evidence-based programming, Andrea has built learning frameworks that integrate real-time data, scenario planning, and participatory feedback loops. As a Senior Learning Advisor with the American Institutes for Research, she led organizational learning initiatives and facilitated the development of theories of change and strategic frameworks across multi-disciplinary teams. Her approach is grounded in human-centered design, ensuring that programs are co-created with the communities they serve and responsive to evolving needs and challenges.
Andrea is also a seasoned facilitator and team leader known for fostering inclusive, high-performing cultures. She has trained hundreds of staff and local partners in monitoring and evaluation (M&E), systems thinking, and strategic planning. Whether aligning internal coordination across 15 operational units or mentoring emerging leaders, she brings clarity, structure, and a collaborative spirit to every initiative.
Following a recent transition from government service, Andrea is pivoting toward roles that allow her to deepen her impact at the intersection of strategy, equity, and sustainability. She remains committed to building programs that not only address immediate needs but also lay the foundation for long-term, community-driven change.
Andrea holds a Master's degree in Yoga Therapy, adding a trauma-informed and holistic perspective to her leadership style. She continues to integrate well-being and resilience into her work—both as core program outcomes and as essential elements of effective team dynamics.
