James is an action-oriented, senior-level international development leader with proven track record mobilizing large, multi-cultural teams to achieve goals under challenging conditions. Extensive experience in strategic planning, environmental policy and program design and implementation, institutional capacity building, interorganizational negotiation and coalition building.

Broad-based technical understanding of nature-based climate solutions, ecological resilience and natural resources management (e.g., forest, freshwater, fisheries, and coastal ecosystems). Well-versed in approaches to both community-based natural resource management and landscape- and seascape-scale integrated biodiversity conservation and development which contribute to the livelihood security of resource-dependent communities. Several years of field experience in Uganda, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire, Guatemala, and Indonesia
