Professional Bio:
Robert Baker is currently a Senior Food Safety Advisor for the World Food Program of the United Nations. Prior to this, Mr. Baker retired from Mars Incorporated following a 35-year career in Quality and Food Safety Management. Before his retirement, he was the Corporate Food Safety Science and Capabilities Director, where he was responsible for leading Food Safety Capability building initiatives including: 1) leading the corporate food safety science strategy in the areas of Microbial Risk Management, Mycotoxin Risk Management and Food Integrity, as well as 2) providing Food Safety leadership, support, consultation and guidance to various corporate partnerships and collaborations. Mr. Baker held multiple positions of increasing scope and responsibility across his 35 years. Some notable roles and achievements include Director of the Mars Global Food Safety Center in Beijing, China, where he was accountable for designing, constructing, staffing and operating the center as well as Developing and Executing the Corporate Food Safety Science Strategy. Mr. Baker has authored or co-authored over 25 peer reviewed publications and holds several patents. He has advanced degrees in microbiology, Food Science and Food Technology.
