Professional Bio:
Shamim Niazi is an Independent Consultant (May 2025–Present), providing strategic and technical expertise on sustainability, environmental compliance, and infrastructure development to clients of Guidepoint and AlphaSights. He most recently served as an Environmental and Social Development Associate at The Cadmus Group LLC (April 2021–May 2025), a global consulting firm that delivers technical and strategic services to government, commercial, and nonprofit organizations. In this role, he led multiple USAID-funded sustainability and environmental compliance projects, managing $1M programs focused on energy, water, climate, and utility systems.
Previously, Shamim served as a Technical Reviewer for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Pollution Reduction Grants and Clean Ports Programs (April–June 2024), where he evaluated more than 50 grant applications targeting clean port operations, water treatment infrastructure, and decarbonization initiatives. His reviews guided over $100 million in federal funding decisions for climate mitigation, emissions reduction, and environmental resilience projects.
Earlier in his career, he served as a Country Program Officer at USAID (January–April 2021), where he managed a $150M+ portfolio spanning water, energy, agriculture, and infrastructure development in Afghanistan. In this role, he led multidisciplinary teams, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and resilient project delivery aligned with USAID’s mission to advance sustainable economic and environmental progress.
